Tom is a Senior Manager in Indirect Tax at RAI Audit and Tax. RAI was set up in 2019 by His Excellency Riyad Al Mubarak to be a national champion professional services firm in the UAE and wider Middle East Region.
Tom started his career at Deloitte in the UK Indirect Tax Team advising global and local clients in a variety of industries on their indirect tax affairs. Tom's specialisms in the UK included healthcare, travel & tourism, real estate and consumer business.
Tom transferred to Deloitte Middle East in February 2018 to work on VAT implementation in the UAE and KSA. He managed a number of VAT implementation projects in the UAE and since then has advised clients across the GCC on a wide variety of VAT issues, including supporting several GCC government departments with their VAT compliance. Tom joined RAI Audit and Tax in November 2020 and currently advises some of the largest businesses in the region on their VAT affairs.
Tom's client work in the UAE has included a wide range of health checks, audit readiness reviews, VAT return reviews, clarification requests, reconsideration requests and appeals, as well as complex technical and legal queries. His specialisms in the UAE include healthcare, education, travel & tourism and consumer business, but he has wide experience of the full range of industry sectors.
Tom achieved a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Modern Languages (French and German) from the University of Durham and is a Chartered Tax Advisor.
