Will corporate tax happen in UAE?

In conversation with Baker McKenzie's chairman Habib Al Mulla, the implementation of corporate tax does seem to be positive in both the

UAE and GCC to replace the current high government fee system, and COVID-19 is expected to accelerate the process.
Al Mulla believes that all forms of business entity will benefit from corporate tax. He commented SMEs are currently suffering due to high government fees. However, according to Fadi Ghandour, Wamda
roup's executive chairman, the government fee could be modified to match the size of the company's revenue rather than introducing more taxes, which could be a burden on SMEs. Although, Al Mulla has a strong opinion on this matter and believes that corporate tax will help to position itself with other global economies. He concluded by saying thatit will take at least a year before the Emirates makes the move.
