Federal Tax Authority holds 5th Forum for Freight Forwarders and Customs Clearance Agents

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) held the 'Fifth Forum of Freight Forwarders and Customs Clearance Agents' over a two-day period using videoconferencing innovation, where it presented updates to its electronic and online solutions recently to further assist and enhance tax procedures in general, as well as those related to delivery and customs clearance activities.

Stakeholders as well as 125 specialists were in the discussion forum who enquired about the products forwarding and also customs clearance field which was answered by FTA experts. Over the two-days, the participants were introduced to the online procedures to register freight forwarding and customs clearance companies, generate the Tax Registration Number, TRN, clear standard import transactions, and settle tax transactions at customs ports. The meeting also covered procedures for registering Excise Goods in the system for importers who are not registered in the tax system and how to generate Excise Goods clearance numbers that meet the regulatory requirements for 'Suspended Status’. FTA reconfirmed their commitment to implementing the tax system and educating their customers about its objectives.
