Input credit refund

A building as decided on paper was supposed to take 3 years to complete construction and was taking input credit along the way. However, construction was stopped midway due to some reason. In this scenario, should the input credit availed so far should be refunded?

As long as the taxpayer still intends to continue with the construction and has not scrapped the project, it shouldn’t be asked to repay the amount of input VAT. However, if after sometime they intend to scrap the project, there could be a possibility to repay the amount. There coll

The important aspect is the intention to make a taxable supply from the project. The under constructed property will either be completed and used for taxable supply or sold off as under constructed property. In both the scenarios, it will result in a taxable supply and input VAT should be recoverable. However, if the project is scrapped, there is a possibility of paying the recovered VAT.
