Eye care subject to VAT?
Is eye care subject to VAT at 5 % or is it zero rated? Eye care includes eye testing services and provision of related goods like contact lenses, glasses etc

For any product to qualify for zero rate under healthcare services, it has to satisfy two conditions. First, it should be registered with Ministry of Health. Second, it should satisfy the conditions of the term ‘medical equipments’ as defined in the Cabinet Resolution issued for healthcare services. If both these conditions are satisfied, the product can be zero rated, else it will be taxed at 5%
