Dubai Customs has released a Customs Notice (06/2021) concerning Customs Deposit Refund Claim service fees for free zone companies. The government has released various clauses for making the customs procedures simpler. They want to create a conducive environment for the free zones to stimulate e-commerce traffic, reduce costs and pool in investments.
The following Articles were released in regard to the same:
ARTICLE 1
A. Free zone companies with goods not exceeding the value of AED 3000 are exempted from paying service fees for the following customs declarations:
a. Transit between Dubai based free zones.
b. Free zone transit declaration.
B. For the zones with goods exceeding the value of AED 3000, regular service fees would be applied.
ARTICLE 2
As issued by the customs rules and procedures, Free zone companies have to submit customs deposit refund claims using the electronic channels that are available to them.
ARTICLE 3
Customs declarations in relation to free zone companies would be monitored under Customs procedures applicable under Dubai Customs.
ARTICLE 4
Any discourse related to the implementation of provisions would be handled by The Tariff and Origin Department at Dubai Customs.
ARTICLE 5
The free zone companies clause would be enforced from 1st April 2021 and anything that contradicts the clause would not be in effect.
